The Masters – our top five picks for Augusta

It’s almost time for one of the highlights of the sporting calendar, as the 2019 Masters at Augusta moves ever closer!

Who will be the next golfer to join the illustrious list of winners? Or will we see a past champion don the Green Jacket again?

Here at Rewards4Golf, we have come up with our top five picks for the big one…

Rory McIlroy

An outstanding victory at the Players Championship topped off one of McIlroy’s best ever starts to a season, in what was his 15th PGA Tour victory.

McIlroy has finished in the top ten for five consecutive years at Augusta, and given that he arrives in fantastic form, he is set to tee off as the favourite to complete a Career Grand Slam.

Justin Rose

The model of consistency, Rose has finished second at The Masters both in 2015 and 2017, and it would be a surprise not to see him amongst the reckoning going into the final round.

His only victory in a major remains the U.S. Open win in 2013, but a victory in Turkey last November and January’s Farmers Insurance Open win ensures that he is one of the form players ahead of the event.

Cameron Smith

The 25-year-old Australian seems well suited to the major championships, and we think he is set to win one of the big ones in the near future.

He is consistent throughout his rounds and has an extremely competent short game. After finishing fourth in the U.S. Open back in 2015, he also tied for fifth in last year’s Masters. Not bad for just his second trip to Augusta!

Brooks Koepka

Arguably the best player on the planet over the last two years, Koepka has won three of the last four majors on American soil in which he has competed in.

The back-to-back U.S. Open champion missed last year’s Masters with a wrist injury, but he returned in scintillating form and he looks sure to add to his major trophy cabinet over the next couple of years.

Tony Finau

Finau made his first Masters appearance last year and was impressive as he tied for tenth place after a solid four rounds.

Out of the four majors and four WGC events in 2018, Finau finished in the top 20 in six of them, including an agonising playoff to defeat to Xander Schauffele in Shanghai. It’s only a matter time before he turns these fine performances into trophies, and he will be hopeful of being in the mix heading into the weekend at Augusta.
