PGA Championship Review

Justin Thomas won his first major with a two-shot victory at the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. The American trailed leader Kevin Kisner by two shots going into the final round but then produced a three-under-par 68 to win on eight under.

Thomas is the eighth first-time major winner in the last nine tournaments, with Jordan Spieth the only exception after winning The Open at Royal Birkdale to add to his triumphs in the US Open and The Masters.

Spieth was aiming to join an elite group of players who have achieved a career grand-slam but he hit a final-round 70 to finish two over, ending his slim hopes of launching a final day assault on the leaderboard.

Francesco Molinari, Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen all enjoyed a strong four days in the final major of 2017, as they all tied for second.

Meanwhile, Rickie Fowler carded a four-under-par 67 to tie for fifth on five under alongside Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who went round in 72 on the final day.

England's Jordan Smith, competing in his first major, was the highest-placed British player on one under, whilst compatriots Paul Casey and Ian Poulter finished level par and one over respectively.
